Newsletter and General Information For 2009

Solid Waste Fees:

Currently our solid waste fees are $60.00 per year if paid by the 31st day of January. After January 31, the fee is $100.00.

Monday Garbage Collection: Mar Lin, Yorktowne, Deer Park, Brookshire, Woodland Acres, Hillside.

Tuesday Garbage Collection: Brier City, Seltzer, Norwegian Woods, Seltzer Highway, New Street, Peach Mountain. Water Street, Mamie's Ave., Mill Creek Ave., St. Clair Ave., Ann Street.

If a Holiday falls on a Monday, Monday's pick-up will be Wednesday. Monday holidays are: Memorial Day, Labor Day, and the First Day of Buck Season.

This schedule may also be changed during winter storm conditions. The first priority is to maintain roadways. Garbage will not be picked up on snow days. Weather permitting, pick up that was scheduled for Monday will be on Wednesday and pick up scheduled for Tuesday will be on Thursday. All garbage must be at your curbside.

Sewer User Fee

Sewer user fee must be paid by the 15th of each month. Sewer users are requested to keep their payments current.

Residents are requested to make separate checks for sewer user fee and solid waste fee. Note: There is a $5.00 penalty-if not paid by the 15th of the month.

Recycling

For residents only. Spot checks will be made for non-residents. Norwegian Township is not part of any county recycling program. Hours of drop-off are posted at township yard gate.

Christmas Tree Collection

Tree collection will be January 7, 2009. Please do not wrap trees in plastic bags.

Snow Removal

All roads will be plowed and cindered. The Township crew have always done a great job and will continue to do so.

2009 Dates To Remember

Spring Clean-Up: April 8th and 9th
Fall Clean-up: October 7th and 8th

Mar Lin, Yorktowne, Deer Park, Brookshire, Woodland Acres, Hillside will be Wednesday.

Brier City, Seltzer, Norwegian Woods, Seltzer Highway, New Street, Peach Mountain, Water Street, Mamie's Ave., Ann Street, will be Thursday.

Please separate acceptable materials at curbside into scrap metal, wood, rugs, etc.

Cleaning households is a commercial enterprise. The Township is not in this business. If you are moving into a house, do not use the clean-up for this purpose or WHEN MOVING DO NOT ABUSE THE PRIVILEGE!

Compost Site

Located on Brier City Road behind Seltzer. Clippings from shrubs, grass, tree branches only. No large trees or household garbage allowed. Contact the Township Building for access.

Littering/Obstructions/Animals

Residents! Use Pa State Police at: 570-593-2000

From The Zoning Office

Building and Zoning permits from the Township Services Building will be obtained from Township Zoning Officer. Zoning and Building Permit Code Enforcement Officer is George Berzowski at (570) 622-8638 Ext. 12.

Building and Zoning Permits must be acquired before any work begins!

Contractors must be registered with the Township. Contractors list available from Township Office.

Meetings

Supervisors meet on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00PM.

Planning Commission meets on the last Monday of each month. (except Holidays) Call Township Building to make sure of meeting dates.

Sewer Authority
